ArtRide: St Boniface & Downtown

July 30 @ 17:30 19:30

ArtRides are back! Bike Winnipeg is pleased to continue our partnership with the Winnipeg Arts Council’s Public Art Program on a series of tours showcasing many of the public art installations in the city.

Join us on a tour this summer and learn about the artwork you pass by every day… What is it made of? Why is it there? What does it mean? Some works are fun, colourful, and interactive, and some encourage quiet contemplation. Join us on an informative excursion and get to know the artwork that punctuates and brightens our city!

The July 30 tour will meet up at Jardin de sculptures, La Maison des artistes visuels francophones, 219 Boulevard Provencher, Saint-Boniface.

This tour will explore public art that considers moments, stories, and ideas that make us who we are:

  • Monument by Michel de Broin
  • Louis Riel by Marcien Lemay
  • To All Winds by Madeleine Vrignon
  • Phare Ouest ( Far West) by Marcel Gosselin
  • No. 1 Northern by John Nugent
  • High Five by Jennifer Stillwell
  • Bloody Saturday by Bernie Miller and Noam Gonick
  • Louis Riel by Miguel Joyal (Manitoba Legislative Building)

Distances

  • One Way – 7.5 km
  • Return – 2.5 km
  • Total Return – 10.0 km

Tour participants are responsible to provide a bike and helmet; check this site for rentals. Please pack water and sunscreen. Tours will run as scheduled rain or shine, but will be cancelled in the event of a storm.

ArtRides are free, though we ask you to reserve your spot on this tour through the Public Art Program’s Eventbrite page.
