Bike Winnipeg’s Local Bike Groups (LBGs) have worked through the year to put together a set of cycling infrastructure priorities for each of the city’s wards. In developing these priorities, we have used our knowledge of the existing bike network and the challenges we face when trying to access our daily destinations by bike.
The priorities listed and mapped for each of the wards are guided by the network principles outlined in the CROW Design Manual for Bicycle Traffic:
We have also made efforts to ensure that the bike network serves the city’s higher-needs areas.
These priorities are not meant to be an end point. They are meant to illustrate what is possible and to solicit feedback from stakeholders and the public. We want to inspire people with the great potential we see for Winnipeg’s bike network and to help drive the demand to see it grow so that we can get more people biking more often!
Our next steps will be to reach out and engage stakeholders and the public to gather that feedback. Moving forward, we’ll build up on the information available for each project.

We have generated two maps for each ward. The first set of maps shows the city’s current bike network along with the cycling infrastructure projects we are asking to be prioritized in the upcoming 2024-2027 four year budget.
The second set of maps shows the the draft bike network proposed as part of the Transportation Master Plan public engagement along with the changes and additions we would like to see incorporated into that network,
Note that to provide context, projects that do not fall within a ward are often shown along with the projects that do fall within the ward.
Some of the listed projects are completed, some are funded through previous budgets, some are part of rehabilitation projects, which in turn may or may not be funded. However, most of these projects are not funded.
Getting these projects built will require substantial investment from all three levels of government. We will be advocating for that funding at all three levels of government.
