When Board member, Julia Schroeder sent a last-minute email on Friday afternoon, the day before our Elmwood ride asking riders to wear their Pride, the bike community responded with a resounding “YES, PLEASE!”
Julia’s statement was that “In light of recent events, and in honour of Pride Month, Bike Winnipeg invites you to show your Pride at our June 24th Bike for the Future Ride. Dress yourself (or your bike!) in rainbows. No matter who you are or who you love, BW strives to be a safe place for everyone who cycles!”
And what a great day to ride a bike. I mean, is there ever a bad day to ride a bike? We at Bike Winnipeg don’t really think there is!
We were joined by local councilman Jason Schreier (Elmwood/East Kildonan) and we rode some of the highlights of the infrastructure as well as some of the shortcomings of the neighborhood.
