Cycling Skills Courses

Bike Winnipeg has developed a series of cycling courses (both on our own and in partnership with MPI) based on the Canadian Cycling Association’s CAN-Bike program.

Each cycling skills course combines classroom presentations with practical on-road advice and mentoring to build critical cycling skills and confidence that will help make your daily commute safer and more enjoyable. All courses are taught by certified CAN-Bike instructors with a maximum 6:1 student/teacher ratio.

Do you want to ride your bike more often but just don’t feel safe? Do you want to teach your kids how to cycle safely? Certified Can-Bike instructors from Bike Winnipeg will help you build both the knowledge and confidence to start riding on the streets and trails in Winnipeg.

Duration: 4 hours
Target Audience: Cyclists who are comfortable riding on trails, but are reluctant to ride on roadways.

Would you like to start commuting but are uncomfortable on busier streets? Are you already commuting, but want to learn the cycling skills that will allow you to ride safely in heavier traffic? Certified Can-Bike instructors from Bike Winnipeg will help you build the skills and knowledge to ride confidently in traffic.

Duration: 4 hours
Target Audience: Cyclists comfortable riding on roads

The Cycle Champions program was developed by Manitoba Public Insurance in partnership with Bike Winnipeg. This intensive, full day course aims to provide each participant with the skills and confidence needed to act as community or workplace “champions” of cycling. The course is offered free of charge, and includes four hours in the classroom and four hours gaining hands-on riding experience.
