Summer is here, and we’re excited to tell you about a number of rides we have planned to help you explore various parts of the city, discover some of the city’s finest public artworks, and learn about our city’s history. Trails of Assiniboia Bike Tour

Our first ride of the season is a celebration of some of the new biking infrastructure that’s been built along the Sturgeon Creek Greenway in St. James-Assiniboia over the last few years, along with a peek at what’s in store for the future.

  • Sunday, June 4th – 2 pm – 4 pm

We’ve very happy to have teamed up with the Winnipeg Arts Council again this year to present three ArtRide’s exploring the public artwork that punctuates and brightens our city. If you’ve ever wanted to delve a bit deeper into the stories behind the artworks. this is your chance!

Bike Week ArtRide: West End, Maples & Downtown

Ride the Red Historic Bike Tour

Ride the Red History Tour

  • Saturday, June 17th – 10 am – 12 pm
  • Cost: $20 – Fundraiser for Bike Winnipeg
  • Eric Napier Strong of Seven Oaks House Museum is our guide for the Ride the Red Historic Bike Tour, sharing Winnipeg’s early history as we follow one of the city’s most scenic rides along the Red River. The tour will help you better understand
    • Early European (French/Scottish/English) settlement
    • Indigenous/settle/Metis cultural exchanges and interactions
    • 1817 Selkirk-Peguis Treaty & its Influence on Winnipeg’s Urban Form
    • The importance of the Red River and the effects of the of flooding (particularly 1825 & 1852) on early historic sites
    • Fur trade associated political struggles and the Pemmican War waged between the North-West Company and the Hudson’s Bay Company
    • The political birth of Manitoba
    • The evolution of Red River style architecture/construction

Parks & Trails of South St. Vital

Parks & Trails of South St. Vital

  • Sunday, June 18th – 8 am – 10 am
  • Join Bike Winnipeg director Denis De Pape on a leisurely bike ride through South St. Vital’s finest natural settings and most enjoyable trails. This 20 km ride will take you through and along the magical Bois-des-Esprits, Louis Riel Sr. Trail, Bishop Grandin Greenway, St. Vital Park, Henteleff Park, and South St. Vital Trail.

2017 Bike Winnipeg Infrastructure Tour

  • Tuesday, June 20th – 7 pm – 9 pm
  • Learn how and why some of our city’s cycling infrastructure has been developed, where gaps remain, and get an expert’s view on what we might see in future years.
